Our story
The art of Tally Embroidery is the folk motifs embroidered with silver and gold threads on the Tulle cloth. The embroidery process is done by using one stitch to produce a many motifs and inherited geometric designs that express the rural environment and popular legacies.
Etamine is an art emerged centuries ago, and it was the basis for household industries of different peoples. There are many and varied methods of designs on the fabrics of etamine, as well as different styles of embroidery on them, such as cross stitch and half cross, and methods that are characterized by geometric motifs of triangles, lozenges and others. The methods differ by countries and historical periods.
Sohag governorate is unique for the Mansaj Embroidery. This craft is based on using horizontal wooden loom and is fitted with a cloth to be embroidered and the crochet needle. The embroidery process depends on one stitch which is the series stitch using different types of threads such as yarns, wool and silk. Currently about 1400 women and girls, most of them are living in Gizert Shandweel
